This industry needs your help. EDI should be frothy with new entrants providing a vast variety of innovations, options and technologies for all levels of players. What we find ourselves burdened with is a stagnant market controlled by a leviathan that has the ability to choose who plays and who does not. This is a market characterized by what is known as “The Network Effect” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect). The value of the market grows exponentially as more endpoints (trading partners) are accessible. By cornering a large share of these endpoints, a bad actor can control the growth and direction of the market. Even … Continue reading

The current skirmish is over the ex-IBM Information Exchange (IE) network. Since 2000 there has been a standard, reciprocal Interconnect between ECGrid and IE. GXS now wishes to terminate that and replace it with a degraded, daisy-changed (their pejorative term) and … Continue reading
GXS Is Consistent
I found a Certified/Return Receipt letter in my PO Box from GXS…with postage due! Seems that they think we should be paying to receive postal communications from them, too!!! Happy Holidays! Todd Gould President Loren Data Corp.

I never forget the day a few years ago in Chicago on a way to an X12 conference with my fantastic staff. Crystal looked up from the car as we headed downtown from O’Hare and commented, “Look at the billboards: Toyota, Ford, Macy’s, Walgreens, etc. … Continue reading
